The view friend’s wish list option allows you to see which gift items have already been purchased and it allows you to mark gifts that you have bought as having been purchased. This prevents your friends from receiving duplicate gifts.
Note that the owner of the wish list cannot see their own list in this way and therefore the element of surprise is maintained.
